The Jones Fightin' Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They secured a 56-51 W over Lake Minneola. That's two games straight that Jones has won by exactly five points.
Jones' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keishaun Robinson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robinson has scored all season. Isaac Buckley was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Lake Minneola lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alvin Colbert, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Isom, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Lake Minneola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Jones' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Lake Minneola, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Jones will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Boone at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Boone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday. Lake Minneola won't have much time to rest: their next game is against East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. East Ridge comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
