Christopher is 8-2 against Piedmont Hills since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Christopher has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Christopher is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Live Oak on Friday. They came up short against the Acorns, falling 12-1. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Acorns recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Melissa Lugo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Piedmont Hills entered their tilt with Oak Grove last Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Camila Delgado Yescas and Ava Martinez made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Delgado Yescas pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Martinez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Delgado Yescas went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Martinez went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most runs Delgado Yescas has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Michelle Torres was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Paskert, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Piedmont Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Piedmont Hills pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Christopher, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Christopher has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Piedmont Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Christopher came up short against Piedmont Hills when the teams last played back in March, falling 7-4. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
