The Alcester-Hudson Cubs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Avon. Alcester-Hudson lost against Avon in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-28 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Alcester-Hudson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elly Doering. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Alexis Gray, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Alcester-Hudson bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alcester-Hudson will square off against Viborg/Hurley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avon, they will head out on the road to face off against Ethan at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ethan is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
