The Lone Star Rangers will challenge the Wakeland Wolverines at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Lone Star got the win against Turner by a conclusive 9-2. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Lairyn Bell looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
At the plate, Serenity Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooke Wooten, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Wakeland's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Creekview get on the board and left with a 15-0 win.
Jordan Mcnees looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Reese Thomas was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren McIllwain, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.
Wakeland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive contests.
Wakeland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Lone Star, their win bumped their record up to 15-8-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lone Star hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Wakeland struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
