The Chattahoochee Cougars will head out to square off against the Johns Creek Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chattahoochee has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Johns Creek will come in with five straight wins.
Chattahoochee came up short against East Forsyth on Thursday, falling 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 25-15.
The losing side was boosted by Isabella Podesta, who had 11 assists and seven digs.
Meanwhile, Johns Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Wesleyan on Thursday, taking the game 3-1.
Johns Creek had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-13.
Johns Creek found their leader in sophomore Evelyn Sinotte, who had 12 digs and two aces. Mary Henley Sims was another key player, getting five digs and three aces.
Johns Creek was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in eight consecutive matches.
Johns Creek's win bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Chattahoochee, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-23.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Chattahoochee has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Johns Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
