Caro is 0-10 against Cass City since May of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Tigers will host the Red Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Caro and Ubly have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Bearcats.
Olyver Downing was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Cass City and Brown City, and Cass City kept the tradition alive. The Red Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Green Devils a 6-0 shutout on Monday. The Red Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Hayden Anthes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Anthes was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Anthony, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Cass City's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Caro, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Caro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Cass City struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Caro might still be hurting after the 20-9 loss they got from Cass City when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
