Baseball Recap: Coral Gables Takes a Loss

The Coral Gables Cavaliers didn't have quite enough to beat the iMater Charter Knights on Wednesday and fell 6-5.

Coral Gables got a good showing from Miguel Castellanos, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Castellanos also allowed three hits, marking his first of the season.

At the plate, Brian Santana was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diego Llanes, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Coral Gables' loss dropped their record down to 6-10-1. As for iMater Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coral Gables will venture away from home to face off against Mater Academy Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for iMater Charter, they will head out to square off against Sports Leadership & Management at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Sports Leadership & Management has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.85 runs per game on average), something iMater Charter will no doubt try to take advantage of.
