Basketball Recap: Blacksburg Find Success

If Greenville Tech Charter wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Blacksburg, they should've done a better job of containing Essence Rodgers. The Blacksburg Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over the Greenville Tech Charter Warriors on Friday thanks in part to Rodgers, who posted 24 points and three steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 17.3 points per game.

Despite the loss, Greenville Tech Charter still got an impressive performance from Jayla McGill, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. Those 16 points gave McGill a new career-high. Gracyn Schreel was another key player, putting up nine points and six assists.

Blacksburg's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Greenville Tech Charter, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Blacksburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-35 victory against Chesnee on the 17th. As for Greenville Tech Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-33 win against Carolina Academy on the 16th.
