Sheldon is 9-1 against Bronaugh since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Sheldon Panthers will be playing at home against the Bronaugh Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Sheldon is ranked 366th, while Bronaugh is ranked 374th).
Even though Sheldon has not done well against Jefferson Independent Day recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Sheldon walked away with a 45-32 win over Jefferson Independent Day. The victory was just what Sheldon needed coming off of a 68-28 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Bronaugh's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Galena. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Strauss Banes put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 29 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 51.8% of Bronaugh's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tucker Duncan, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Bronaugh struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Sheldon's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Bronaugh, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
Everything went Sheldon's way against Bronaugh when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as Sheldon made off with a 55-32 victory. Will Sheldon repeat their success, or does Bronaugh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
