Basketball Recap: Navajo Pine Takes a Loss

Navajo Pine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were dealt a 74-43 defeat at the hands of the Hozho Academy Wolves. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-19.

Myles Yazzie and Anthony Sandoval certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Yazzie posted 11 points and eight boards, while Sandoval earned eight points. Those eight rebounds gave Yazzie a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joshua Martinez, who put up four points.

Navajo Pine's loss dropped their record down to 2-22. As for Hozho Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Navajo Pine won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northwest at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Navajo Pine is facing Northwest at the right time seeing as Northwest is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. Hozho Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
