The Coconino Panthers entered their tilt with the Prescott Badgers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Coconino managed a 42-37 victory over Prescott on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Bridger French continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 262 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. French hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Colton Buckingham was another key contributor, rushing for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Several Badgers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johann Gundermann, who picked up 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Rice, who threw for 316 yards and two touchdowns while completing 93.3% of his passes.
Coconino's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Prescott, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Coconino will head out on the road to face off against Flagstaff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Flagstaff is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Prescott, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mingus at 7:00 p.m. Mingus comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
