Valley Union and Baboquivari are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Valley Union's win against Fort Thomas wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Apaches 5-3. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Apaches recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Dylan Mitchell made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Valley Union is undefeated when Mitchell allows one or fewer hits, but 1-2 otherwise. Mitchell was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Mitchell wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Moroney Flores, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Baboquivari came into Saturday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on San Carlos with a sharp 13-1 victory on Saturday.
Like Valley Union, Baboquivari also got a great game from a two-way player: Siwdag Garcia. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Garcia has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyler Baptisto, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Ezekiel Hendricks, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Valley Union's record now sits at 5-2. As for Baboquivari, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4.
Valley Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Baboquivari when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
