It was another big night for Brett Freeman, who went 9 for 16 en route to 21 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. Those eight assists gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Craft, who posted 12 points.
Meanwhile, South Mecklenburg waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 65-56.
South Mecklenburg's win came from a few key players Ardrey Kell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jim Gatehouse, who had 16 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ben Houpt, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points.
South Mecklenburg pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Ardrey Kell, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Ardrey Kell and South Mecklenburg are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Ardrey Kell hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 66.5 points per game. However, it's not like South Mecklenburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Ardrey Kell won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, slipping by South Mecklenburg 73-72. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was South Mecklenburg's Peter Moye, who went 10 for 17 en route to 34 points and seven boards. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be easier for Ardrey Kell to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
