The Northwest Raiders will be playing at home against the Church Point Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Northwest ultimately got the result they hoped for two Fridays ago. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Iota and snuck past 37-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Northwest.
Ja'Vain Reese continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 244 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Craig Malveaux was another key contributor, rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Northwest's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Davon Thibodeaux and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Church Point had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points), and they went ahead and made it three two Fridays ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Port Barre 50-12 at home.
Their wins bumped Northwest to 4-2 and Church Point to 3-3.
Northwest was taken down by Church Point 50-8 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Northwest have more luck at home instead of on the road?
