Coral Shores' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Burson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Melanie Estevez was another key player, putting up 15 points along with seven boards and four steals.
Coral Shores smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Key West only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Key West's loss came despite strong showings from Monica Bueno and Lilee Gage. Bueno posted 12 points and seven steals, while Gage had eight points in addition to seven steals and three blocks. Bueno has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Coral Shores' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Key West, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
Coral Shores will face off against Varsity Opponent at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Key West, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-28 loss against St. Brendan on the 11th.
