After flying high against the Towns County Indians on Tuesday, the Commerce Tigers came back down to earth. Commerce received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 59-44 to Banks County. Commerce was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Banks County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played two weeks ago.
Loss or not, Commerce got some senior leadership from Raven Parks who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals and Malay L miitchell who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was L miitchell's 11th in a row with at least ten points.
Commerce's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Banks County, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Commerce won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lumpkin County at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. Banks County will be home for the holidays to greet West-Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West-Oak presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Banks County in their respective states (West-Oak is ranked 72nd in South Carolina, while Banks County is ranked 223rd in Georgia).
