The Porter Ridge Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Weddington 71-44 at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Porter Ridge also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Porter Ridge found their leader in underclassman Ashanti Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Malcolm, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Porter Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Weddington, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Porter Ridge will take on Cuthbertson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cuthbertson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Porter Ridge is ranked 55th). As for Weddington, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Sun Valley at 5:30 p.m. Sun Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
