Basketball Recap: Tarbut V' Torah Has No Trouble Against the Webb Schools

Tarbut V' Torah won the last time they faced The Webb Schools and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tarbut V' Torah Lions were the clear victor by a 49-28 margin over The Webb Schools Gauls. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while the Gauls are ranked 1063rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jacob Coblentz-Brown was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Gideon Marzouk also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Tarbut V' Torah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Webb Schools only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Several Gauls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josef Sharifi, who posted eight points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Jimmie Brown III, who earned two points in addition to nine rebounds, three steals, and three blocks.

The win made it two in a row for Tarbut V' Torah and bumps their season record up to 9-1. As for The Webb Schools, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Tarbut V' Torah is facing Southlands Christian at the right time seeing as Southlands Christian is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for The Webb Schools, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Capistrano Valley Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Capistrano Valley Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully The Webb Schools likes a good challenge.
