Los Angeles CES is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 24-4 margin over Discovery. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Unicorns as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Lily Munoz, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Julie Segel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Los Angeles CES always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Van Nuys entered their tilt with Valor Academy on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past Valor Academy 26-4.
YVETTE CANUTO made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. CANUTO was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Van Nuys got a massive performance out of ARIEL PUENTE, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. PUENTE is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of KIMBERLY NUNEZ, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs.
Van Nuys now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Los Angeles CES, their record now sits at 5-8.
