Softball Recap: Bellmont Wins Going Away Against New Haven

Bellmont got themselves on the board against New Haven on Monday, but New Haven never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Bellmont let Finnley Godsey and Emily Bleke run wild. Godsey went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Bleke went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Bleke has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Sutter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Bellmont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.

Bellmont's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for New Haven, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellmont will head out to challenge Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for New Haven, they are taking a road trip to square off against Adams Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Flying Jets at the right time seeing as the Flying Jets are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
