After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Fairmont, the Nitro Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They put the hurt on Sissonville with a sharp 58-37 victory. This was payback for Nitro, who suffered a 40-26 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nitro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Natalie Smith, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Karson Jones was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Sissonville still got an impressive performance from Kynadee Britton, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The match was Britton's third in a row with at least ten points.
Nitro now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Sissonville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.
Nitro will take on St. Albans at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (St. Albans is ranked 11th, while Nitro is ranked 20th). As for Sissonville, they will head out on the road to face off against Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoover is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
