The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs entered their tilt with the Whiteland Warriors with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. Everything went Franklin Community's way against Whiteland on Saturday as Franklin Community made off with a 51-29 win. Franklin Community has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 22 points or more this season.
Franklin Community's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Scarlett Kimbrell, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Erica Buening, who scored 11 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Whiteland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gwen Higdon, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Vondielingen, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Franklin Community's win was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. As for Whiteland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Community will square off against Martinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Martinsville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Franklin Community is ranked fifth). Whiteland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Perry Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Perry Meridian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
