Colby Robb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Wahconah Regional saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam McLaughlin, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Frontier Regional earned a 7-4 win over Turners Falls on Tuesday. The Red Hawks haven't had any issues with the Thunder recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Jack Cusson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Brady Poreda also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Frontier Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Turners Falls only posted a batting average of .222.
Frontier Regional's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wahconah Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Frontier Regional's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Wahconah Regional has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Frontier Regional, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Wahconah Regional keep running through batters, or will the Red Hawks buck the trend?
Everything went Wahconah Regional's way against Frontier Regional in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Wahconah Regional made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
