On Friday, the Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights faced the Lincoln School Lynx in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Exeter-West Greenwich came out on top against the Lynx by a score of 49-36. For Exeter-West Greenwich, this counts as revenge for the 54-47 loss the Lynx walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Exeter-West Greenwich to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Johnson, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Mears, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Lincoln School's loss came despite strong showings from Reign Whiteing and Sarah Berube. Whiteing scored ten points along with five blocks, while Berube scored 16 points. Whiteing hasn't dropped below two blocks for seven straight games.
Exeter-West Greenwich's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. As for Lincoln School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Lincoln the next time they take the court. Lincoln School will host Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Exeter-West Greenwich will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
