It was a good run, but the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 61-36 walloping at the hands of Piedmont Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Briarwood Academy has scored all season.
Briarwood Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kennedy Mosley, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Caroline Stapleton who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Mosley hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Emma Scott, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Marissa Holder continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Piedmont Academy, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Holder is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Mobley, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds.
Briarwood Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Piedmont Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season.
Briarwood Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against Alleluia Community at 6:00 p.m. Alleluia Community is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Piedmont Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against First Presbyterian Day at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. First Presbyterian Day presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Piedmont Academy in Georgia (First Presbyterian Day is ranked 37th, while Piedmont Academy is ranked 191st).
