Rock Canyon came out on top against Highlands Ranch by a score of 76-65 on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Rock Canyon was led to victory by Brooke Harding and Sarah Davis. Harding scored 20 points along with four steals, while Davis scored 23 points along with three steals. Harding has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Sienna Pillsbury was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Highlands Ranch still got an impressive performance from Ezra Simonich, who scored 23 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simonich has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Baker, who scored 17 points.
Rock Canyon's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Highlands Ranch, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rock Canyon will take on Douglas County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Douglas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for Highlands Ranch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (ThunderRidge is ranked 34th, while Highlands Ranch is ranked 28th).
