Apollo (Glendale, Ariz.) saw its 10-point lead dwindle to four, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Horizon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) 24-20 on Saturday.
The two teams were tied at seven heading into halftime. The Hawks took the lead for good on a field goal by
Rodrigo Hernandez with 1:00 remaining in the third quarter.
With the win Apollo extended its winning streak to seven games. AHS defeated the Cougars 46-13 last week.
Nico Bayless played well for the Glendale school in the victory. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.
Jason McLaurin made a difference for the Huskies. The junior wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Horizon, which notched a 32-21 victory over Notre Dame Prep in its previous outing.
