Baseball Recap: The Villages Charter Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

The Villages Charter waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Walker Valley Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buffalo have posted since April 24, 2024.

Samuel Craig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Marcello Cortale was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

The Villages Charter's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Walker Valley, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The Villages Charter will take on Horizon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Villages Charter is facing Horizon at the right time seeing as Horizon is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Walker Valley, they will be playing at home against Rhea County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give Walker Valley their first taste of in-conference action this season.
