On Tuesday, the Albany Falcons faced the Shenendehowa Plainsmen in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Albany was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Shenendehowa. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Albany has scored all season.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Iyana Weedon, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Azera Gates, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Albany has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-4 record this season. As for Shenendehowa, their win bumped their record up to 17-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Albany will face off against Niskayuna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Niskayuna is coming into the match with three straight defeats at home, meaning Albany will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Shenendehowa's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ketcham at 12:30 p.m. on February 10th. Ketcham will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Shenendehowa surely won't give up without a fight.
