On Tuesday, Normandy came up short against Madison and fell 49-39. While losing is never fun, Normandy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while Madison is ranked 133rd).
Despite the loss, Normandy saw an underclassman step up: Ziley Minich scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Minich has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Savannah Hardy was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Normandy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Madison, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Normandy will take on Holy Name at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Madison won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Lakeside is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
