Rhinelander is 8-2 against Northland Pines since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hodags will face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Rhinelander has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Rhinelander and Antigo, and Rhinelander kept the tradition alive. The Hodags came out on top in a nail-biter against the Red Robins on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hodags have posted since April 14th.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northland Pines). They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Wright on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.
Aiden Minx tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He has become a key player for Northland Pines: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Jonah Will was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Miller, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Northland Pines is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Rhinelander, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5 record.
Rhinelander came out on top in a nail-biter against Northland Pines in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hodags since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
