Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Harbor Creek walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Meadville Bulldogs on Friday as they made off with a 17-3 win. The Huskies are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 13 straight.
Addison Lucas made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Brooklynn Cipalla and Arianna Denning did most of the damage at the plate: Cipalla got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Denning went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits Denning has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacie Fortin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Harbor Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Harbor Creek's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Meadville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Looking ahead, Harbor Creek will square off against Fort LeBoeuf at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 2.8, the Bison 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meadville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
