Westlake hasn't had much luck against Bingham recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Thunder will take on the Miners in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westlake 3.4, Bingham 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Westlake is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lehi, who was ranked 14th at the time (Westlake was ranked 11th). The Thunder skirted past the Pioneers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thunder have posted since May 2, 2024.
Brilynn Attebery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Audrey Sherman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ryan Pead, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Westlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, while Bingham put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Copper Hills. The Miners put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won nine in a row.
The team relied heavily on Shyann Banasky, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Gracelyn Lemke was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Westlake pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Bingham, their win bumped their record up to 7-5-2.
Both Westlake and Bingham just can't seem to miss. The Thunder have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Bingham struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
