It was a good run, but the Symmes Valley Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Wellston. Symmes Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Symmes Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacob Cade, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two steals. Aydan Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Symmes Valley's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Wellston, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Symmes Valley has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Mohawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. One thing working in Northwest's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for Wellston, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Waterford is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
