Ignacio has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Centauri Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Ignacio has not done well against Bayfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Ignacio walked away with a 41-33 victory over Bayfield.
Gabe Cox was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ambrose Valdez, who scored seven points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Centauri had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against Alamosa by a score of 46-33.
Troy Sowards and Carson Bagwell were among the main playmakers for Centauri as the former scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals and the latter scored 15 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sowards has scored all season. Jace Haslett was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Ignacio now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Centauri, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Ignacio took a serious blow against Centauri when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 81-26. Can Ignacio avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
