The Reading Blue Devils fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS by a score of 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Reading has suffered yet this season.
Madeira's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Manning led the charge by scoring 14 points. Ben Reed was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists.
Reading has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Madeira, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reading will take on Wyoming at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wyoming is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Madeira, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Indian Hill at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Indian Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Madeira in Ohio (Indian Hill is ranked 207th, while Madeira is ranked 605th).
