The Scotts Hill Lions were the 34-26 winner over the Bolivar Central Tigers when they last played one another back in August of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Scotts Hill fell 28-21 to Bolivar Central on Friday. Scotts Hill just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Despite the loss, Scotts Hill still got an impressive performance from Noah Clayton, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 159 yards and a touchdown. Clayton's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Avion Jackson was another key contributor, picking up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Carson Howell was a one-man wrecking crew for Bolivar Central as he rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 205 yards and a touchdown.
Scotts Hill's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-2 Mt. Pleasant and 8-2 Covington (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.2% over those games). As for Bolivar Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotts Hill will take on McNairy Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (McNairy Central is ranked 278th, while Scotts Hill is ranked 277th). As for Bolivar Central, they will be playing at home against Liberty Tech Magnet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty Tech Magnet comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
