A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. The Bloomington South Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Bloomington North Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomington South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Bloomington South will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Terre Haute South Vigo, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 8-1 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Brilee McGlothlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Larkyn Ivey, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Carly Reed was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bloomington North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Shakamak, falling 16-7.
Kinsley Stanley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsea Helton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Bloomington South's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Bloomington North, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Bloomington North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bloomington South has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Bloomington North, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Bloomington South's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bloomington South was able to grind out a solid win over Bloomington North in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
