The Providence School Stallions will challenge the Bishop Snyder Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Providence School is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Buchholz just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to the Bobcats.
Providence School saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landis Pickett, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bishop Snyder had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Bulldogs.
Lewis Turner looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Dennis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Josh Murray was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Bishop Snyder's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Providence School, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Providence School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bishop Snyder struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Providence School was able to grind out a solid win over Bishop Snyder in their previous meeting back in February, winning 9-6. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
