Section 5 Finger Lakes - West recap Oct. 9, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Red Jacket, who took down 113th ranked Clyde-Savannah, 34-27.
Brandon Passalacqua and Tim Trickler provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Dundee. The longest such play in Section 5 Finger Lakes - West this season, the connection resulted in 76 yards.
Mynderse Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Passalacqua threw for 102 and two touchdowns and Gungeet Bajwa had 76 yards receiving. On the ground Mike Millis chipped in 101 yards. Trickler helped Mynderse Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.
Mynderse Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Blue Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Passalacqua has thrown for 387 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Connor Miller has nine catches for 122 yards. Aaron Peterman leads the league in rushing with 564 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Whitman takes on the Indians. The Wildcats are in sixth place, while Red Jacket is in first place.
Marc Vitticore's team moved up to 107 from 158 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 5 Finger Lakes - West. The Indians were able to make the jump by beating the Golden Eagles 34-27.
