The Tavares Bulldogs lost against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Tavares was dealt a 55-17 loss at the hands of Leesburg. While losing is never fun, Tavares can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Leesburg is ranked 136th).
Leesburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Saige McCloud, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was McCloud's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ariyana Hester, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 steals.
Tavares has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Leesburg, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Tavares will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Umatilla at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
