R-S Central has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Chase Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. R-S Central will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Thursday, R-S Central was able to grind out a solid win over Cloudland, taking the game 41-28. R-S Central pushed the score to 41-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Cloudland cut but never quite recovered from.
R-S Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Boone Hodge, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Hodge was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. Marcus Mckinney and his 94 yards on the ground were also a key factor in R-S Central's victory.
Meanwhile, Chase got themselves on the board against Patton on Thursday, but Patton never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 59-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Chase, who have now won four matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Zac Frashier was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. Da'Zion Murray was another key contributor, rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown.
R-S Central's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Chase, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: R-S Central has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 234.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Chase struggles in that department as they've been averaging 218.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
R-S Central was taken down by Chase 49-8 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for R-S Central, Jalen Rudisill (who rushed for 184 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
