Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Tigers vs. Christ Covenant Spartans

The Trinity Christian Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Christ Covenant Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trinity Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

On Tuesday, Trinity Christian humbled Bethel Christian Academy with a 54-20 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

Trinity Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Burnham out in front who went 7 for 13 on her way to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Burnham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Marlee Little was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Trinity Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Christ Covenant earned a 56-47 win over New Bern Christian Academy on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Christ Covenant pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Trinity Christian, their record is now 23-4.

Trinity Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Christ Covenant when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 43-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trinity Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
