Trinity (Washington, Pa.) jumped out to an early lead against
Uniontown (Pa.) and never looked back on the way to a 26-13 victory on Saturday.
The Hillers scored seven points in the first quarter. Trinity scored on a
Corey Hunsberger touchdown run.
THS was up 19-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Hunsberger touchdown run in the first quarter.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 19.
Hunsberger played well for the Washington school in the victory. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
The Hillers entered the contest giving up 21.2 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Red Raiders right around their season average of 12.3 points scored per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for THS, which lost to Belle Vernon last week, 26-17.
Uniontown (1-6) will play a WPIAL AAA Big Nine game against Thomas Jefferson next week, while Trinity (4-3) will take on West Mifflin also in a WPIAL AAA Big Nine game.
