Given Jersey Village's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Spring Woods is ranked 952nd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Spring Woods saw an underclassman step up: Anjalena Salazar scored 15 points along with four steals. Emely Zapata was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Jersey Village's win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Spring Woods, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-14.
Jersey Village will square off against Cy-Fair at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Spring Woods, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cypress Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
