AAAAA Region 3 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Ware County extended the longest winning streak in AAAAA Region 3 this week by beating Groves, 41-0. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Gators.
Richmond Hill took down Bradwell Institute 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dominique Allen threw for 75 yards and one touchdown and ran for 38 yards in the win.
The Wildcats' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground David Katzman chipped in 64 yards. Nick Fitzgerald helped Richmond Hill's passing attack out by catching one ball for 25 yards.
Hank Ferendo was the best wideout in the league this week as Richmond Hill topped the Tigers. Ferendo racked up one reception for 32 yards.
The Rebels' Jessie Robbins and Thomas Fields have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Robbins has thrown for 499 yards this season, while Fields, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 14 catches for 257 yards. Katzman from the Wildcats leads the league in rushing with 740 yards.
A big matchup in AAAAA Region 3 this week will be when Richmond Hill takes on Jenkins. As it stands, the Wildcats are in second, while the Warriors are in third.
Glynn Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,597 from 3,235. The advance stemmed from a 21-0 victory over Effingham County last week.
