Fontainebleau is 1-9 against Northshore since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fontainebleau Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northshore Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Fontainebleau will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Fontainebleau's strategy against Covington on Tuesday. Fontainebleau strolled past Covington with points to spare, taking the game 53-34. Given Fontainebleau's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Covington is ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fontainebleau's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laderricka Payne led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynne Callahan, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
While Northshore couldn't quite beat Ponchatoula on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 26-point defeat they were dealt on Friday. Northshore fell just short of Ponchatoula by a score of 61-59. Northshore has struggled against Ponchatoula recently, as their game on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Fontainebleau is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which somehow isn't as good as their 20-6 record this season. As for Northshore, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-8.
