The Xavier Knights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 34-7 victory over Kennedy Catholic. The result was nothing new for Xavier, who have now won three matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Mehdi Merah, who rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Another big playmaker for Xavier was Sean Kull, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Xavier has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Kennedy Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
Xavier will head out on the road to face off against St. John the Baptist at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. John the Baptist presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Xavier in New York (St. John the Baptist is ranked 40th, while Xavier is ranked 130th). As for Kennedy Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fordham Prep at 7:00 p.m.
