After a string of four wins, the Milan Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Brookfield by a score of 37-35. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Milan came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Brookfield is ranked 229th).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amy Pickering, who scored 11 points. Pickering scored a full 31.4% of Milan's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Violet Gray, who scored 4 points along with 12 rebounds.
Milan's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Brookfield, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milan will take on Mercer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brookfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Knox County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Knox County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
