Basketball Recap: Taylen Moore's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clinton over East Duplin

Clinton was the 37-24 winner over East Duplin when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Clinton Dark Horses fell 50-38 to the East Duplin Panthers on Monday. The Dark Horses have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clinton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylen Moore, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Those 13 points gave Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Henry Bass, who posted nine points.

Calvin Harper was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 16 en route to 20 points in addition to seven boards and five steals for East Duplin. That makes it four consecutive games in which Harper has scored at least a third of East Duplin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Hall, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for East Duplin, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Clinton has already played their next contest (against St. Pauls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. East Duplin will venture away from home to face off against Kinston at 8:00 p.m. on January 28th. One thing working in Kinston's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
